What a bold statement to say that Dynamic Chiropractic provides THE safest pregnancy exercise. We have the information to support this and we want to shout it from the rooftops!

For context - Dynamic Chiropractic also provides Aquanatal exercise classes at Southern Swim School in Kirrawee. We call this arm of the clinic Dynamic Aquanatal. Aquanatal is a registered program where Dr Amy Norman will be in the water with you providing the safest pregnancy exercise possible.
What makes it the safest pregnancy exercise? There are a few things that we look at to answer this question. Firstly, this is a type of exercise that you can do throughout ALL stages of your pregnancy ( up until your waters break!). Whereas other forms of exercise is only appropriate up until a certain stage. For example running should technically stop at about 26 weeks. However Aquanatal, due to how gentle it is on the body is appropriate from first trimester all the way until the end of your third trimester. Dr Amy Norman was in the water a week before she had her son. It was easily one of the best things possible to keep active and mobile throughout all of her pregnancy.
Aquanatal is pelvic floor and pelvic girdle friendly. For many that suffer from pelvic girdle pain, they will find that many types of exercise aggravates this condition. However with Aquanatal - not only do you have less downward pressure into your pelvic floor which acts as a protectant, being immersed in the water itself also switches on your deep core stabilising muscles that also protect the body from injuries but also the reduction in gravity helps protects your joints and ligaments. This is such a bonus for those that are pregnant because we are typically carrying more weight than usual so this is a. welcomed break for the body and adds the feeling of weightlessness.
Aquanatal stops you from overheating! Overheating is a major issue when exercising during pregnancy. Being in the water when it is the correct temperature ( between 28-33.4 degrees!) is going to prevent overheating. This keeps mum and baby safe when exercising. The beauty of having a health professional in the water with you also means that someone is there to modify exercises if needed and will make sure you are exercising at the right intensity!
Aquanatal also helps with fluid swelling! By being immersed in the water you are getting up to 700mls of excess fluid in your limbs and periphery getting shifted back towards the heart. This is an advantage for those especially in the third trimester of their pregnancy. By reducing swelling, we can also keep you as comfortable and mobile as possible which creates great chances of a fantastic birth!
